Tech-giant Adobe, which caused a stir in the fashion world in 2023, with the introduction of its interactive digital dress, is back to foray into the fashion scene. Now, Project Primrose has made its debut at New York Fashion Week, showcasing a fusion of technology and fashion that hints at the future of clothing design.
The collaboration with designer Christian Cowan resulted in a dress featuring laser-cut polymer dispersed liquid crystal ‘petals’ that can electronically change patterns multiple times per second. This technology allows the dress to undergo pattern shifts, creating a wave-like movement in the bodice. Combined with Cowan’s signature design elements like a skirt adorned with layered stars, the garment is not only technologically advanced but also visually striking.
Christian Cowan shared his excitement about the Adobe X Christian Cowan primrose dress on Instagram quoting – “This unique piece, serving as the centerpiece of the collection 2024 Fall/Winter New York City Fashion Week show, is more than just clothing—it is a dynamic canvas.” Adorned with Primrose petals and Cowan’s iconic stars, the dress captivated the audience with its animated patterns.
The incorporation of Adobe’s technology on the runway showcases its potential as a tool for the fashion industry. Adobe describes Project Primrose as a gateway to new possibilities in fashion design.
