Mission Valley Choral performs
Mission Valley Choral Society Director Christian Bumgarner is directing his last concerts in Montana on Palm Sunday weekend at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the Mission in St. Ignatius and at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson.
Bumgarner, along with Karla Gallatin as accompanist, will lead the choir in 10 varied musical selections from “Ave Maria” to a medley from “Les Miserables.” A spaghetti supper will be served immediately following the Sunday concert in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church basement.
The 90-minute concerts are free and welcoming to all. Free-will offerings will be taken at each concert. Saturday’s donations help the choir with music expense, and donations from the Sunday concert and meal will support Helping Hands of Mission Valley.
In his 35 years of directing choirs in the valley, Christian has led six choirs and founded three. He has either sung in or directed the Mission Valley Choral Society for about 30 years. For information contact 406-261-3304 or 406- 370-2076.
Columbia Falls Community Choir to perform
After a three-year COVID shutdown, the Columbia Falls Community Choir is working hard and preparing for its spring concert. The concert will be presented at the Columbia Falls High School Little Theatre on Saturday, April 15 at 7 p.m. The performance will feature traditional choral music as well as songs to sing along to. “Lord of the Dance” by John Rutter has a familiar melody with some surprising harmonies.
Oboist Luci Yeats will accompany the concert with the selection of “The World of Our Dreams,” and will also feature soloist Craig Blair. Songs to make the audience sing along include “Sunny Side of the Street,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” and a Beatles medley titled “Can’t Buy Me Love.” Soloists Diana Washburn and Marc Connelly will share their talents in the energetic spiritual “Shout Glory!” The 50-voice choir is under the direction of Steven Holte and will be accompanied by Jordan Neiman. A free-will offering will be accepted.
