Five meetings are scheduled for Thursday across the UK and Ireland, with all-weather Flat fixtures bookending three jump cards.
Southwell (11.12-3.07pm) opens proceedings and Chelmsford (5.00-8.30) brings the day to a close, in between which there’s action from Market Rasen (11.55-3.25), Clonmel (12.02-3.32) and Wincanton (12.20-3.50). The last of those meetings is subject to an early-morning inspection.
Today selections race at Chelmsford and Southwell, and include a former Michael Stoute runner who appears to be particularly well handicapped on his debut for George Boughey.

Horse racing tips: Chelmsford 6.30
This is a competitive Class 4 handicap over 7f in which both Riot and Rogue Thunder appeal, having won last time out over course and distance. Of that pair, preference would be given to the latter given his unexposed profile, but he has a tricky draw this evening.
OLIVER SHOW is our selection. The son of No Nay Never is related to plenty of winners on artificial surfaces and proved his own suitability when making a winning handicap debut at Kempton in June.
He was impressive when bolting up in that one-mile contest, looking well ahead of his mark. He has shown enough pace to cope with today’s drop back to 7f and he is nicely drawn in stall two to sit behind the pace.
The three-year-old has been unable to add to that Kempton victory in two subsequent starts but they were stronger turf races. He has been gelded and given wind surgery since last running in June and it is worth watching for market signals given he makes his debut for new connections.

Horse racing tips: Southwell 2.32
Prince Abu is entitled to respect in this Class 6 handicap over 1m 6f as a dual course-and-distance winner, including this time last year from a 6lb higher mark.
However, UPEPO is a confident pick to maintain his unbeaten record for Tony Carroll since making the switch from Ireland.
A maiden in eight starts before joining current connections, he went off favourite on his debut for the yard at Lingfield in October. Showing an excellent turn of pace having been held up off a slow gallop and hitting the line hard, that performance suggests he won’t have any issues covering this extra 2f and a stiffer track.
Remaining at this grade from a 5lb higher mark, it will be disappointing if he is not capable of winning again in what looks an ideal opportunity.

Liseo drops in class and is expected to head the market, given he has arguably the best recent all-weather form – having been fourth last time out in the Middle Distance series Final at Kempton – and is also a previous course and distance winner.
However, the eye is drawn to former stablemate PENZANCE. He has been picked up by connections who do very well with recruits from other yards and can be expected to improve on his recent debut for Michael Appleby, having been off the track since June.
It is also worth noting that his best run for previous connections came over today’s 1m 2f trip when second to a Ralph Beckett-trained runner, who franked that form when winning his next two starts.
Running off bottom weight here, he receives upwards of 7lb from nine of his 11 rivals. Confidence in the selection will increase if he is supported in the market.
Selection: Penzance @ 4/1 with Betfair
