Two buildings totaling about 22,000 square feet will be built at 6010 UTSA Blvd. near the Leon Creek Greenway, said Joe McChesney, Santikos vice president of real estate. The center, dubbed Roadrunner Creek Shopping Center, is more than 50 percent pre-leased and tenants will include national and franchise operators.
Construction on the buildings is expected to begin in May and take about 10 months, McChesney said.

While Santikos is best known for the 10 theaters it operates in the San Antonio area, the company also owns and manages shopping centers, industrial buildings and vacant land.
The Legacy, a roughly 350,000-square-foot mixed-use development with stores, offices and apartments at the northeast corner of Loop 1604 and U.S. 281, is the company’s biggest center. It also owns the Embassy, Mayan and Silverado shopping centers.
Santikos Real Estate and Santikos Entertainment are divisions of Santikos Enterprises, which has an uncommon structure.
When cinema mogul John L. Santikos died in 2014, he left his movie theaters and real estate holdings to charity. Profits from both privately-held endeavors flow through a nonprofit named for him to the San Antonio Area Foundation, which distributes the funds to charitable causes laid out in his will. Some of its profits have also been used to pay down its debt.
