Smiling Kate seen on video for first time in months on farm shopping trip

Kate Middleton has been captured on video for the first time since her surgery in January on a trip to a farm shop in Windsor.

The Princess of Wales has been out of action for months following an abdominal operation, with only one official picture of her released in that time.

Social media speculation has gone into a frenzy in recent weeks, particularly after that picture – published to mark Mother’s Day – was found to have been manipulated.

But footage obtained by The Sun shows the Duchess of Cambridge visiting her favourite farm shop with her husband Prince William a mile from her home at Adelaide Cottage on Saturday.

The video, filmed by a shopper, showed Kate with her hair down and carrying shopping bags as the couple walked through a car park.

The newspaper quoted another customer who said: ‘After all the rumours that had been going round I was stunned to see them there.

‘Kate was out shopping with William and she looked happy and she looked well.

‘The kids weren’t with them but it’s such a good sign she was healthy enough to pop down to the shops.’

The video was also published by the American gossip website TMZ.

When it was first announced that the princess would be stepping back temporarily from public engagements two months ago, Kensington Palace said she would return after Easter.

Yesterday, she was replaced in the Irish Guards parade by Lady Ghika, wife of the regiment’s Major General Sir Chris Ghika.

Kate, the honorary colonel of the regiment, instead posted a St Patrick’s Day message from the official Kensington Palace account on X.

It was reported last night that she may be planning her first public appearance for Easter Sunday on March 31, when the royal family traditionally walks to church.

However, others have suggested she is unlikely to step back into the fold until April 17, when her children George, Charlotte and Louis return to school after the Easter holidays.

Friends of the princess have reportedly said she is keen to speak openly about her health when she returns,

One source quoted by the Sunday Times said: ‘They are at their most open when out interacting with members of the public and I can see a world in which the princess might discuss her recovery out on engagements.

‘If she was going to do it, that’s how she would do it.’
